Start Times: (10am Sunday 3 July for most players)
The plan is for a number of players who have entered the doubles to play their first singles game late on Saturday 2nd July. Any players completing such games will have a late start on Sunday (at a time to be advised).
Singles-only players may choose to arrive on Saturday 2nd July and, if so, I will do my best to get your first round game played (but I can’t guarantee this, since it depends on Doubles progress and, in some cases, arrival of your opponent). If you want to do this, I’d suggest no earlier than 4pm, and please let me know so that I can stop your potential opponent from leaving.
Any players not completing a singles game within the Swiss on Saturday will be required at 10am on Sunday 3rd July.
If you have requested leave during the Swiss, it will be in your interest to get an early game played on Saturday.
The Draw for the Open Doubles Championship is as follows:

David Goacher & Dave Kibble
Chris Patmore & Chris Farthing

General – There aren’t many rules at Surbiton; just a general expectation that folk will behave reasonably. You may find some advice on what “reasonably” means when you arrive, but it might be useful for you to know a few points beforehand.
Parking – the club’s car park is quite small and we would like to keep it for the use of those involved in running the tournament (cooks, manager, etc) and for deliveries. There is lots of parking space in Alexandra Drive and the surrounding streets.
Practice – members will be losing access to their club for 18 days during July so they will want to make maximum use of the available days. We also have to do a lot of work on preparing the lawns to get them flat. So it won’t be possible for non-members to practice before the tournament although the lawns should become available during the late morning of the first Saturday. On other days, practice will be available for up to 30 minutes before the scheduled start of play each day, after the hoops have been set.
Catering – we will provide the usual full catering, although lunch will be simpler than usual and supplied by Rosa. And, except for Friday, we will provide bread and sausages for those involved in evening games. There are many good cafés in Surbiton and some of them are cheap and open late. We will provide a list. There will also be a free BBQ on Friday for all those players who are still around and have not offended the manager.
Dogs – welcome if their owners are under control but not in the clubhouse.
Hours of Play - From 10am until dusk. It may not be possible to determine late starts until quite late on the previous day. So unless I tell you otherwise, you should be ready for play at 10am each day. Play will continue fairly late on some days, so dusk means dusk. Lateness policies, as per tournament regulations, will be applied.
