Archie Peck: 1935-2012
Archie Peck, Director of Croquet at the National Croquet Center and croquet's long-time ambassador, champion and friend, died today at the Palm Beach Hospice facility, succumbing to his battle with cancer of the tongue. Archie loved the Center and it was home for him. He worked long hours and performed superbly as teacher, organizer, lawn supervisor and ambassador to all.
Many of you knew Archie from your participation in tournaments at the Croquet Center, or tournaments he managed across the country, or being part of the generation of players he instructed and inspired over the years. Archie's commitment to our game was legendary as an seven-time National Champion, and honored member of the US Croquet Hall of Fame and the World Croquet Hall of Fame.
We have lost one of the giants of croquet - an icon. Rest in peace, our friend.
