2016 British Opens: Day Two
Player report from Jeff Soo:
Doubles was again the main order of business for the day. In the one remaining match from the round of 16, James Death and Samir Patel (England) advanced over Matthew Essick and Robert Hurst (USA), Patel tripling in game one and finishing off the contact after an Essick TPO in game 2. Death and Patel then reached the semifinals by beating Stephen Mulliner and Mark Ormerod (England) in a closely-fought match.
Top seeds David Maugham (England) and Paddy Chapman (NZ) had a comfortable win in their quarterfinal. Brian Cumming (Canada) and Jeff Soo (USA) had a scrappy win in their quarterfinal. The two pairs started their semifinal, Cumming and Soo taking game 1 +16.
