Bob Jackson: 1932-2023

Bob Jackson passed away today at the age of 92. Jackson took up croquet in his late thirties after a career representing New Zealand at international table tennis. He brought a professional attitude to practice that was almost unknown in croquet in the late 1960s and helped him to rise rapidly to the top of the sport. He became particularly famous for his accurate shooting which was based on a remorseless practice routine.

2023 WCF Association Croquet Women’s World Championship

The closing date for WCF members nations to nominate players for membership places was September 12, 2022. South Africa released one of their places, but all of the other members have nominated players per their entitlement. The released place has been awarded to Rosemary Newsham who had the highest qualifying Max DG over 12 months of the remaining players.

Bob Alman: 1939-2022

It has been reported on the Nottingham List that Bob Alman passed away on March 17, 2022, after a short illness. Alman was a dedicated organizer and promoter for the sport of croquet. He was inducted into the World Croquet Federation Hall of Fame in 2020.

Spain Wins the 2020 Tier 2 World Team GC Championships

Spain defeated Wales 10-3 to claim the 2020 WCF World Team GC Championship Tier 2 title. The 2020 event was held October 11-16, 2021 in Cádiz, Spain, at the headquarters of Real Club de Golf VISTA HERMOSA, SHERRY CROQUET and the Real Club de Golf Novo SANCTI PETRI.

It was the first WCF tournament held since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic began and was contested by Wales, Switzerland, Latvia, Norway, Scotland, Spain and Canada (although only two players were able to attend) and an eighth Select Team that played friendly matches to help the schedule.
