Today’s WCF Association Croquet World Championship final at the Hurlingham Club in London featured a thrilling display of croquet as England’s Robert Fulford battled back from 2-0 to take a 3-2 win over American Matthew Essick by a final of 9-26tp, 9-26tp, 26tp-22, 26tp-0, 26otp-18.
Fulford had the first break in all five games but game three looked relatively bleak for Fulford as Essick set up for a sextuple finish. It did loosen up a bit as the turn progressed, but Essick was looking to end with a straight triple finish before a complication arose at 4B (H10).

Round Two of the WCF Association Croquet World Championships did not disappoint as there was plenty of action at Hurlingham as 16 players took to the courts looking for a chance to advance to the last eight. Here’s a quick summary of the day’s action. World #1 Robert Fletcher (AUS) was the first one through to the Last Eight based on a 3-0 win over #46 Gavin Carter (ENG) with three triples. The 2023 GC Over 50's World Championship is set to take place from October 14-21, 2023, in Western Australia. The Management Committee has announced the allocation of places for this 48-person event. According to the Committee, there will be 20 Full Member Places, 4 Associate Member Places, 4 Qualifier Places, and 20 Ranking Places available for the championship. The 20 Ranking Places have been awarded to the players based on the Initial Ranking List dated end of March 29, 2023. This is based on their Max DG ranking over 12 months as per Sports Regulations Appendix 2, clause 2.3.

Club croquet players across Europe will have the opportunity to showcase their skills and compete for the title of Champion club team in Europe in an exciting new event set to kick off in April. The event, which will consist of six qualifying stages, will culminate in the Grand Final to be held at the prestigious Roehampton Club in London, England from October 13-15, 2023. During each of the six qualifying stages, four teams of four players will compete against each other over the course of a single weekend. The first Qualifying Stage was held in November 2022 at the Algarve Club in Portugal, which saw the Roehampton Club emerge victorious (results on croquetscores.com).
