Croquet World Online reports that former world golf croquet champion Khaled Younis from Egypt had a recent car accident that has forced him to withdraw from the WCF World Golf Croquet Championship. According to the online article, the crash occured at 1:00 a.m. in the morning after a croquet match. Younis suffered a broken left hip and is currently in the hospital, but does a have a good prognosis. From the Philadelphia area in the U.S., the Friends of the Mansion at Smithville are hosting organized croquet games in the park over the summer at the Historic Smithville Park lawn for the public every Wednesday evening at 5:30 pm and at 6:30 pm. Games will be open to players ages 12 and up and the cost will be $5 per person. Participants will receive 15 minutes of instruction and 30 minutes of game time--

There seems to be some sort of debate going on about who has the largest croquet tournament in the United States. The Harleysville Tournament claims to have 180 participants in this article. I'm not sure who they are challenging for the title -- Merion? The Westmoreland Club?
