This evening as I am writing this, there is still much that is going on behind the scenes to set up the Knock Out Draw, Plate matches, and venue allocations and start times. There were several playoff matches going on into the late afternoon that had a bearing on all of these things being finalized.
I can tell you that out of the eight blocks of players, there were five players who finished block play undefeated (9-0). Reg Bamford of South Africa, 18-year old Edward "Ned" Wilson of Australia, Felix Webby of New Zealand who is the current U21 World Champion, Mohamed Karem of Egypt, and Duncan Dixon of New Zealand.
USA's Mohammad Kamal finished with a strong 8-1 record and Sherif Abdelwahab finished 7-2. They look to be in great form to start the 32-player Knock Out tomorrow.
I managed to take a game off of world #7 John-Paul Moberly of England which to date is one of the personal highlights of the tournament for me. I'll take it! Matt Griffith and I will be going for it in the Plate!
Knockout is now set:
