Results of the 2023 World Croquet Federation (WCF) Elections Announced
The World Croquet Federation (WCF) has announced the results of the recently concluded 2023 elections, which saw the election of new leadership to steer the organization for the next four years, starting from January 1, 2024. José Álvarez-Sala from Spain won the election for the position of WCF President with 36 votes. The election was keenly contested, with Jeff Soo (USA) polling 25 votes and Andrew Hobbs securing two votes.
Newly Elected Management Committee Members
The election also determined two critical positions on the WCF Management Committee, with the following individuals emerging victorious:
Samir Patel (England) - 60 votes
Jeff Soo (USA) - 49 votes
The other contender, Stephen Wright, received 15 votes.
Close Election Reflects Active Participation
The WCF acknowledged the active participation of all members in what proved to be a closely contested election. The engagement of the croquet community in the democratic process highlights the importance placed on the future direction of the organiztion.
The WCF also commended Lewis Palmer and Chris Williams for their role as election scrutineers. Their oversight ensured the integrity and fairness of the electoral process.
DAWSON MARK 3 BALLS APPROVED
The WCF has officially granted approval for the Mark 3 Dawson balls in primary colors, marking a significant milestone in the evolution of croquet equipment. Paul Manwaring, the driving force behind the Mark 3 Dawson balls, has successfully resumed production. Orders for primary colors are expected to be fulfilled promptly, with a targeted release to Australian Clubs starting January 15, 2024, followed by international availability from February 15, 2024. The WCF is now looking toward receiving the secondary colors for testing.
