The Tega Cay Croquet Club (TCCC) was recently contacted by Eden Fury, an Associate Producer at Sharp Entertainment Company. Fury wanted to use our croquet lawn to film a scene for TLC's 90 day: The Single Life reality TV series. The plot: two actors have decided to go on a date at a croquet club. We were told that the filming would be finished in two-three hours and Fury assured the club that there would be no damage to the lawn. The club board approved the project, and a nominal fee was charged for the use of the lawn. The film crew arrived on the afternoon of Saturday, May 13. The President of TCCC, Alan Offen, was utilized in the scene: He was the croquet "pro," and gave introductory croquet lessons to the two actors. The cast and crew completed the job within the three-hour time frame. The director asked us not to post any pictures or videos until the show aired.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
The TCCC had a recent "community outreach" project. We invited seven residents of The Wellmore of Tega Cay to come and play croquet. The Wellmore is an assisted living facility, and they have a bus for transportation. Before the residents arrived, we divided our full-size court into half-size courts. To make the gameplay easier, we used just FOUR wickets on each court, and removed the center stakes. The players were given a quick lesson on golf croquet. Our club had several members in attendance to coach and help the players play safely. The group played for about an hour, and everyone said they really enjoyed the outing.
The Tega Cay Croquet Club was founded in 2008, and currently has 115 Members. Tega Cay is located in South Carolina, just south of Charlotte, NC. Learn more about the TCCC at www.tegacaycroquet.com.
