Excitement is building as the Chesapeake Bay Croquet Club (CBCC) will be hosting the prestigious 2023 USCA Golf Croquet Nationals in September. The week-long event is scheduled to take place from Monday, September 18, 2023, to Sunday, September 24, 2023. Croquet players across the country are encouraged to register for this showcase GC tournament by contacting the United States Croquet Association (USCA) office.
In preparation for the event, the CBCC has been in negotiations with the USCA to ensure more accessible participation. The CBCC will generously provide the use of their top-notch courts, and the USCA has promised to charge only actual expenses, along with the mandated $50 per player sanction fee. The entry fee is $250, and players get seven days of highly competitive play. Most, if not all of these games will be single-banked. Courts will be prepared for high-level competitive play every day and the CBCC facility will be open and available to players and guests 24/7. There is practice Sunday, September 17.
While this is a low-frills event, the club is offering lunch service every day, organized trips to local restaurants every night and a steamed crab, pulled pork and fried chicken feast on Saturday night (a la carte).
The Chesapeake Bay region offers plenty of excellent lodging options, known for its outstanding Bed & Breakfasts. Players interested in receiving a list of recommended lodging options can simply reply to the registration email for further assistance.
For participants traveling to Chesapeake Bay, the Richmond International Airport (RIC) is the ideal destination. Known for its ease of navigation, travelers can quickly arrive at the club with just a one-hour drive east of the airport.
The Golf Croquet Nationals aren't the only attraction at Chesapeake Bay this fall. Prior to the main event, the club will hold its annual 6-Wicket Tournament, the Blue Crab, from September 14-17.
Moreover, attendees can indulge in two all-you-can-eat feasts featuring southern country favorites, blue crabs, pulled pork, fried chicken, and various fixings. The first feast will be on Saturday evening, September 16, during the Blue Crab Tournament, and the second on Saturday evening, September 23, during the Golf Croquet Nationals.
