USCA Availability GCWC Deadline: March 5, 2024
The 2024 WCF Golf Croquet World Championship will be hosted in the U.S. for the first time since 2002. The event will be held at the Chesapeake Bay Croquet Club, making its debut as a world-championship venue. Practice and opening ceremony on Thursday 10/17, with competition beginning the next day and finishing on Saturday 10/26.
As the Event Host the USA is entitled to extra tournament spots, and at this point we expect an allocation of eight Membership Places, in addition to Ranking Places and any Wild Card Places. That is six more Membership Places than we usually get for a World Championship, so this is a great opportunity for USA players to compete at the highest level. There will also be at least four spots reserved for the top finishers in the Qualifying Competition, which will be held at CBCC in the three or four days immediately prior to October 17. Details on the Qualifying Competition will be announced soon.
Entry to a WCF World Championship is made by applying to your national croquet association. Players who wish to be considered for a spot on Team USA must notify the USCA office and the USCA GC Selection Committee by Tuesday, March 5, 2024. U.S. players who have not declared their availability by that date will still have options for getting a spot in the tournament (including through the Qualifying Competition), but only players who have replied by March 5 will be eligible for one of USA's Membership Places.
Note that the USCA will only consider for Membership Places players who have a current World Ranking (at least 10 ranking games in the prior 12 months) as of the tournament Allocation Date, which is April 2. On or before April 16, the WCF will announce which players have earned Ranking Places in the tournament.
The USCA must submit its Membership Place nominations to the WCF by May 16. The GC Selection Committee will wait until after the USCA GC Eights before making its selections.
