John Hobbs died on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, in Pembury Hospital after a shortish illness. The funeral will be held on July 20 in Tunbridge Wells. He was born in Beccles, Suffolk in 1932 to a shoe repairer, but managed to get to Oxford University reading Physics.
