The 2023 USCA Selection Eights moved through Day Two yesterday and with eight of 14 games in the books for the Second and Third Eights. In the First Eight, Stephen Morgan is at the top of the standings with a 4-2 record, but Brian Cumming, Doug Grimsley and Randy Cardo are close behind at 4-3. Rich Lamm is a scratch, so that seems to be impacting the number of games played for the group.
In the Second Eight, Paul Neubecker is now 7-1 to lead the group, Chris Percival-Smith and David Druiett chasing with 6-2 records. In the Third Eight, we were instructed to change to 135 minute time-limits and that ensured that play wrapped up for the day by 6:30 p.m. In our group, David Isaacs remains undefeated at 8-0 with Mike Sully his nearest challenger at 6-2.
Play resumes today at 8:00 a.m. at the National Croquet Center with four games scheduled. Sunday morning will be a short day with two games scheduled for each group.
