The 2023 USCA Selection Eights worked through the third day with the the Second and Third Eights now having played 12 of the 14 scheduled games.
It looks like the First Eight will be playing 12 games and Stephen Morgan is still at the top of the standings with a 7-3 record. On Sunday morning, he still has Zack Watson (5-5) and Sherif Abdelwahab (4-6) to play. One win should avoid a tiebreak for Morgan. Watson, who also has Brian Cumming (5-6) to play, could still tie at 7-5 if Morgan loses two. Doug Grimsley at 6-5 is also in the mix and has Abdelwahab as his final game. For net, Morgan is +93, Grimsley is +32 and Watson is -13.
In the Second Eight, Chris Percival-Smith is 10-2 to lead the pack and has David Druiett and Paul Neubecker just behind with 9-3 records. It should be a great Sunday morning of action as Percival-Smith will play Druiett and Neubecker. Druiett also takes on Gene Raymond and Neubeckers other game will be against Ron Eccles.
In the Third Eight, the picture is crystal clear. David Isaacs has already secured the group title after powering through the first three days with a 12-0 record with 10 pegouts. Mike Sully and Dawn Jupin are closest to Isaacs, each with 7-5 records.
