U21 Golf Croquet Championship Player Update

The world’s top young golf croquet players will converge at the Sarasota County Croquet Club from April 14-18, 2025, for the Under 21 Golf Croquet World Championship. This prestigious international tournament, sanctioned by the World Croquet Federation (WCF), will feature 28 competitors from across the globe. With the recent replacement update, the field now includes six U.S. players.

The Sarasota Croquet Club, located at 1400 Lucaya Ave, Venice, FL, will provide a world-class venue with seven meticulously maintained lawns. The club is preparing to meet championship standards with a lawn speed of 10+ seconds and precisely set Quadway hoops to ensure high-level competition.

Expanded Field and International Contenders

Following a review by the Management Committee, the event’s capacity was increased from 24 to 28 players, allowing more young talent to showcase their skills. The competition will feature top-ranked international players, including Jack Good (England), Fawzy Helmy (Egypt), and Levi Franks (New Zealand), along with U.S. representatives Blake Fields, Asher Scantlin, Luka Nettleton, Simon Dentchev, Land Wyatt and Nehemiah McFrederick.

Tournament Format

The event will consist of:

  • Block Play: Four blocks of six players will compete in best-of-three matches over three days. The top four from each block will advance to the Knock-Out Stage.

  • Knock-Out Stage: A 16-player single-elimination format, with best-of-three matches and a best-of-five final (if time allows).

  • Plate Event: Open to those who do not qualify for the Knock-Out Stage, featuring block play followed by a knock-out round.

  • Bowl and Shield Events: Knock-out competitions for players eliminated in earlier rounds.

Event Leadership

The tournament will be led by Jeff Soo as Event Lead and Tournament Manager, with Michael Albert serving as Tournament Director. A team of experienced referees, including Ellen Nielsen, Ellie Griffith, Doug Ledgett, and Bob Gelineau, will ensure fair play.
