2017 Kamal Cup Announcement

The Pasadena Croquet Club is now accepting entries for the Championship Flight of the 2017 Kamal Cup, the premier open golf croquet singles event on the West Coast. The event will be contested on May 20-21, 2017.

To enter, you must have a WCF GC grade of 1850 or higher. The entry fee is $60. The deadline for entries is April 17th. To enter, please e-mail Eric Sawyer at ecsccs323@gmail.com.

The Championship Flight will be played Saturday and Sunday afternoons (eight-player maximum). It will be a round robin with seven matches, with a first to score seven game format. Top four players will be seeded into a play-off knock-out, the bottom four will be seeded into a plate. Play-off matches will be to 19 points. There will be no time limits.

Awards will be given to those who place in the top three. Plus, the winner of the Championship Flight will have his/her name engraved on the Kamal Cup, our perpetual trophy for this event.
The event will be played at the historic Pasadena Croquet Club, located within Central Park in Pasadena, California. The club is in the heart of Old Town Pasadena, a fashionable tourist area with upscale restaurants, shops and museums. We are also close to the Burbank Airport and the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

Crowdsourcing the Kamal Cup

This video provides some information on an innovative approach that Eric Sawyer and the Pasadena Croquet Club are taking to fund a purse for the 2016 Kamal Cup golf croquet tournament to be held at the club June 11-12, 2016. The club is using the Tilt platform to ask donors to help fund the target purse of $3,500 with the idea of drawing in top US GC players. Through Tilt, the donation process is simplified and perks are provided for specific levels of donation.

Morning Coffee: St. John's vs Navy Scales Back

Click to visit the store

Ah, President's Day. This is a wonderful chance for me to sleep in until 7:30 and play modern-day internet journalist. The leisurely morning with coffee, snagging of stories then pausing for a spoon feeding of rice cereal and peaches for my six-month old breakfast critic and a return to the old trusty laptop. No pressure of a press deadline, just knowing croquet fans across America will likely be checking their e-mail by noon. While across the pond, it's best to have the newsletter ready for some evening e-mail readers. Click to visit the storeGood morning croquet nation. You'll notice a new format for Morning Coffee this week. In general, I really enjoy providing a summary sentence or two about each of the croquet headlines each week and hope that readers enjoy the newsletter. It seems that they do as we seem to steadily gain additional subscribers. It's still a cult following, but the growth is there. I like to think of the Morning Coffee as the world's weekly croquet newspaper and certainly hope more and more people will feel the same.

In assessing the overall workload at Croquet Network, the stream of croquet news has outpaced what I can really handle as an editor. Well, I could handle it if that was my sole focus, but I really got into the

The Pasadena Croquet Club will be hosting a golf croquet extravaganza the weekend of 6-7 November 2010, which is the weekend before the Golf Croquet National Championships at the Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, CA on 10-13 November.

The highlight of this event will be a challenge Golf Croquet matchClick for full size between MHCC professional Ben Rothman and PCC member Mohammad Kamal, which will take place on Saturday November 6th at 1:30 pm at the Pasadena Croquet Club in Pasadena, California.  The event is free and is open to the public.  After the match, Ben and Mohammad will do a jump-shot demonstration, which will culminate with them selecting members of the audience to join their respective teams for an impromptu jump shot competition after showing some pointers.

On Sunday, November 7th at 10:00 am, there will be a doubles Golf Croquet tournament in which spectators, beginners and those new to the sport will be paired up with experienced golf croquet players to compete for prizes.

We are honored to have Ben and Mohammad play for us.  Ben is currently the top ranked Croquet player in the United States and North America.  He is the 14th ranked International Croquet player in the world.  Mohammad is the reigning national champion of Golf Croquet in this country, and is the highest ranked American Golf Croquet player in the world.  Both Mohammad and Ben have represented the United States on various teams that have played in international championships.  Needless to say, Ben and Mohammad are world class croquet players!
